I was really happy when mom called me with the idea of doing a family pajama photo shoot at one of my favourite venues. It’s such a fantastic and unique idea i just knew the photos were going to be gorgeous.

It was a really relaxed and fun shoot. The Pillay family were able to relax, be themselves and play around naturally, until the kids finished off with a pillow fight, LOL!

The Pajama shoot was such a great idea because it really lets a family snuggle up with each other naturally get close and comfy with everyone, and that family closeness definitely shows in the photos!

I so loved the time I spent with Nat and Bren during their Maternity shoot and then, loved it even more when I got to take pics of little man Ben, such a pleasure.

This gorgeous family has crept into my heart, and so obviously I was hoping that they would contact me when Ben’s 1st birthday came around, and lo and behold, they did. I was so pleased, and so excited, I just knew it would be a wonderful celebration. And it was just that.

Thanks Nat and Bren for  welcoming me into your home with such warmth. I got to celebrate Ben’s 1st birthday with all of you, not just as your photographer but as your friend, it was very special. As your photographer though, I got to capture these very precious moments, of a very precious boy, celebrating his very first birthday.

Beautiful Ben, you are a treasure, and I wish you love, happiness, respect, strong guidance and laughter, always,  and with parents like yours that’s a given!

A few months ago i had the pleasure of attending and photographing the store launch of Suzaan Heyns an incredibly talented local fashion designer’s store in Melrose Arch.  The event was sponsored by Bombay Saphire and was well attended by local celebrities, such as Felicia, Pearl Thusi, Abby and Claire Meekel, Tamara Day, Louise Carver, Catriona Andrew and Lindiwe Suttle, who gave an amazing performance, singing songs from her album ‘Kamikaze’  from behind the store window.

The Suzaan Heyns store is situated on the top level of the Piazza in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg.

About Suzaan Heyns:

In 2001 ELLE Magazine awarded Suzaan Heyns a bursary to go to the London International School of Fashion. Whilst studying she actively participated in the industry by doing freelance fashion illustration, show production, and styling. After graduating from LISOF, Suzaan started her career in fashion as a stylist for magazines and commercials. She started her first label, Abraham and Louisa, in 2005 with Louw Kotze. In 2008 Heyns began showing collections under her own name at Design Indaba. In 2009 she officially launched the SUZAAN HEYNS label and won the Anglo Gold award for the ‘Most creative range’ at the Africa Fashion Week Awards 2009. Glamour Magazine elected Suzaan as the Style Star for its Woman of the Year for 2011. Suzaan continues to be the sole designer at SUZAAN HEYNS for all creative lines.

I recently spent my morning photographing this gorgeous little 4 day young lady. She was so relaxed and happily slept through our shoot, getting into the cutest positions for me, i couldn’t get enough of her.

While mom was pregnant she made the beautiful little chrochet hat for her, it was too cute for words. How impressive for a first try at crochet!

Such a beautiful little girl, i am sure she is going to bring her proud parents much joy and happiness

Nani was the winner of best 48MVP Song 2012

Heart & Soul Photography sponsored a photoshoot for the winner of the ‘Best Song’ award at the 48 Hour Music Video Project Johannesburg 2012. Lovely NaNi won it for her song titled ‘Nomalanga’.

We had a lot of fun in studio with this shoot – Nani wanted to go for a ‘Billy Holliday’ type look, so i mostly went with a very vintage, black and white look when editing the pics, and I am absolutely in love with the result!

I got to play with gorgeous light and the cosmos was in full bloom, it was real eye candy, esp when you throw in a beautiful mom-to-be and her handsome hubby. Lulwando and Siyabonga are a lovely couple and I will them the very best in their journey together as parents.

Kai’s first birthday party was a huge success! I have seldom seen a one year old with so many guests on his very first birthday – he was equally blessed in having just as many presents. A huge mountain of toys that i am sure will keep him busy for the next year!

I had hired a few vintage props for my 1050′s style vintage pin-up calendar and was going to have these for a few days - so i called up my friend and asked her if she wanted to do an ad-hoc vintage shoot in the local park with her kids that same weekend. Although it was very short notice and an incredibly fast-paced shoot (as all photoshoots involving kids are), it all worked out fabulously in the end…

Nevash did an outstanding job with all the circus themed decorations, I just love DIY decor, it makes any party extra special. The theme was  ‘Circus’, which I think is perfect for a first birthday party, it’s so colorful  and fun, and as you can imagine for me, it was absolute eye candy. I had a ball photographing all the details.

The entertainment was brilliant, from the lovely, colourful lady clown that did beautiful face painting on all the kids and made balloon animals, to the ringmaster and of course the ever so popular jumping castle. Nevash even set up a mini photo booth with awesome props, which was a hit.

I will say it again, what a beautiful day.  I love what I do, because i get to share and capture beautiful moments like these, specialness.
