The FH Woman’s Day, Pin-Up Bazaar – Johannesburg Pin-Up Photographer

Fallen Hero’s hosted a wonderful, ladies only, event to celebrate Women’s Day, a national holiday in South Africa. Here’s a little history about Women’s day; On 9 August 1956, more than 50,000 women staged a march on the Union Buildings in Pretoria to protest against the proposed amendments to the Urban Areas Act (commonly known as the pass laws) of 1950. They left bundles of petitions containing more than 100 000 signatures at prime minister J.G. Strijdom’s office doors. Outside they stood silently for 30 minutes, many with their children on their backs. The women sang a protest song that was composed in honour of the occasion: Wathint’Abafazi Wathint’imbokodo!(Now you have touched the women, you have struck a rock.). In the 54 years since, the phrase (or its latest incarnation: “you strike a woman, you strike a rock“) has come to represent women’s courage and strength in South Africa.

The Women’s Day Pin-Up Bazaar  was a really awesome event  and was held at Fallen Heroes Tattoo studio in Parkhurst. The attendance was amazing, and all the ladies went out of their way to dress up proper Pin-Up style, they all looked gorgeous. Heart & Soul Photography, which will be launching Bella Dea Boudoir & Pin-Up photography brand very soon, was there with a themed photo booth set-up, complete with a funky rockabilly, African styled backdrop and loads of props. The ladies really had a ball playing dress up and practicing their best Pin-Up poses, which were picture perfect.  It was a really fantastic event and well done to The Fallen Hero’s team for putting it all together, until next year, keep rocking ladies.
